What is a Night Year?

A night year is similar to a light year, though it's not as discrete or as measurable.  They are the periods of our lives inbetween moments of enlightenment.  They are the times we walk away from what we know, just to see if we are truly the masters of our own destinies.

Whatever they are, they are accumulated and carried with us every day.  If you look into our eyes, they show as clearly as the wrinkles on our faces or the greying of our hair.  They are neither blessing nor punishment, fortune nor curse. They are what we have done, and what is done to us.
